Baseball Program in honor of Player wearing #8
KV8 Memorial Foundation Senior Scholarship
Non-Profit Foundation created in memory of Kekoa "Koa" Reece Malulanimekealoha Pagán dedicated to focusing research grants in the area of preventing childhood cancer
Every year we honor one of our fallen Warriors by acknowledging the significance of the #8 uniform and as a tradition select a current player to wear it who best embodies the character and spirit of Kirk Vasquez. Kirk was lighthearted and caring, but between the lines he was as fierce of a competitor as they come. He was dominant on the mound and feared at the plate, but what truly made Kirk special was how he carried himself. He was easily the most talented player, but he never acted like it. He always wanted to know what he could do to get better and was willing to put in the work. He was a GREAT teammate. It didn't matter if you were a freshmen or upperclassmen, he welcomed you and treated you the same.
The number 8 jersey isn't about who is the best player or most talented player, it's given to the player who is selfless, hard working, and a good teammate. The #8 uniform is also recognized by our community and opponents. People look to see and want to know who is wearing #8 for the Warriors, because they know what it represents. So wear the uniform with pride and go out there every day knowing that it is a privilege to play the beautiful game of baseball alongside your teammates.
Each player who is chosen to wear #8 will have their name added to this plaque, which is displayed at the snack shack by the baseball field
